Educational Technology & Course Design

My professional goal is to develop high-quality hybrid and online courses. Here are a few examples of how I can make that happen:

Course Development Toolkit

I created this toolkit for course development in IDN 532: Designing Online Instruction. This is an example template I use for planning courses. It includes a learner analysis, module blueprint, and a few educational technology tools.

Botany

A substantial instructional design project occurred during the Fall 2020 semester. I assisted my father, a seasoned professor and traditional lecturer, transition his courses to the LMS for hybrid teaching. We worked on two courses together: a public health course and a botany course, the latter of which which we developed from scratch. For both courses, I used Camtasia to develop numerous lecture videos that would be posted in the modules. I also selected accompanying activities, discussions, and assignments. This ten-minute video provides an overview of the botany course that we created.

Parasitology

Another course I converted to suit a hybrid delivery was a parasitology course, taught in Spring 2021.

Capstone Project: Life in the Anthropocene

For my Capstone project for my Master's in instructional design, I developed three modules for a non-majors, undergraduate biology course about sustainbility using Canvas. **Coming soon: video of completed project**

Educational App

This project proposes the development of an application that teaches the geology of a state park to middle school Earth science students. It was developed for IDN 527: Society, Culture, & Learning.
